Defending SRHR of Women Living with HIV in Healthcare Settings

  • Location: UN Conference Room C

This side event will explore human rights violations faced by women and girls living with HIV during the exercise of their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in health care settings including stigma and discrimination, forced and coerced sterelization, forced and coerced abortion and lack of informed consent.

The United Nations Development Program will present the key findings in their report on "Protecting the rights of key HIV-affected women and girls in health care settings: a legal scan."

Advocacy and movement building strategies will also be discussed to ensure that the Post 2015 agenda reflects the need to end human rights violations faced by women living with HIV, particularly in their efforts to exercise their SRHR.
