UNAIDS : Special Youth Programme application deadline on 12 February
UNAIDS has put out a call for applications for the third round of the UNAIDS Special Youth Programme (SYP). This Programme was established in 2008 and was modeled on the successful UNFPA Special Youth Programme which was created in 2004. It consists of a 5 month fellowship at UNAIDS Geneva followed by a 4 month fellowship at the UNAIDS country office in the fellow’s country of origin. The objective of the Programme is to help engage young people from developing countries in policy development and programming as well as build their capacity and leadership skills to contribute to the AIDS response.
2009 fellows from Malaysia, Nigeria, Zambia and Zimbabwe are currently carrying out the country office part of the fellowship. This year UNAIDS seeks to recruit 3 fellows for the SYP, and we strongly encourage young people living with HIV to apply. In this regard, if you know personally of individuals who you think would be good for the Programme, please encourage them to apply using the UNAIDS on-line recruitment system. You are welcome to forward the attached terms of reference to partners and members of your country teams. The application deadline is 12 February and expected starting date is May 2010.
