GCWA: Shanique Campbell joins the GCWA advisory group

Shanique Campbell is a vibrant twenty-two year old Jamaican feminist and youth activist. She is extremely passionate about youth and their need to be empowered irrespective of whatever life challenges that they may face. She has years of experience working with youth and leadership and has coordinated the premier leadership course at the University of the West Indies- Mona. She holds a BSc. in Management Studies – Accounting - from the University of the West Indies - Mona - and has managed to integrate her love for service and accounting; along with the help of the executive board, to form the first NGO of its kind in Jamaica and the Caribbean, the I’m Glad I’m A Girl Foundation.

Through the foundation, she has worked and is working with many organizations such as FRIDA - The Young Feminist Fund, United Nations Populations Fund [UNFPA], the Anita Borg Institute of Technology and Adobe Youth Voices. She is currently also a member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation’s [IPPF] Emerging Leaders Youth Group representing Jamaica, the Caribbean and the Latin America and the Caribbean Region and The Young Women’s Leadership in Jamaica.  A mother, daughter, sister and mentor herself, Shanique’s mantra comes from the infamous Maya Angelou ~ “Yet Still I Rise”.
