International AIDS Conference: Scholarship Applications for AIDS 2012
The International Scholarship Programme is open to everyone around the world. Priority is given to those whose participation will help enhance their work in their own communities, to those who are able to assist in the transfer of skills and knowledge acquired at the conference, and to those whose abstract, workshop or programme activity (Global Village or Youth Programme) submission has been selected.
Those interested in applying for an International Scholarship must complete the online international scholarship application form through their conference profile between 8 December 2011 and 15 February 2012.
Click here to look through the International Scholarship Application Form.
Those submitting an abstract, workshop or programme activity proposal and interested in applying for an international scholarship should start their scholarship request through their conference profile.
Applicants will then receive instructions on how to link their abstract, workshop or programme activity to their scholarship application.
International scholarship applicants will be asked to submit a letter of recommendation after completing the scholarship application. No international application will be accepted without submission of the letter of recommendation.
Currently, there is not funding to bring participants to the conference so, it is important that you complete the scholarship application if you are interested.
Additionally, GNP+ will be offering limited* scholarships for the
LIVING2012 Pre-conference which is exclusively to people living with HIV. These scholarships will ONLY be granted to people who have successfully applied and been selected for an IAS scholarship through AIDS2012.org
Living 2012 will be the 13th international conference of people living with HIV. The conference is a milestone in a consultative process that aims to formulate the Global Advocacy Agenda for people living with HIV. The Global Advocacy Agenda will reflect the needs and challenges of the global community of people living with HIV. Therefore GNP+ will do every effort to ensure the participation in LIVING 2012 is geographically balanced and reflects the epidemic and its different key populations.
Also, as funding is limited, the number of participants that can attend the conference in Washington DC is limited to 300 people living with HIV. Of these people:
* 150 participants will be scholarship recipients. People who are wishing to apply for a scholarship can do so through the Scholarship procedure of AIDS 2012, which is accessible here. The AIDS 2012 scholarship deadline is February 15. When you are successful for an
AIDS2012 scholarship, you will be invited to apply to participate in LIVING 2012.
* 100 self supporting participants. Living 2012 has space for 100 people living with HIV who are paying their own way to the conference
- 50 national, 50 international. These participants pay their own transport, hotel and all other costs. They can apply through the application procedure for self supporting participants which is accessible here: Click here to register for the conference
* 50 participants living with HIV that are representing partner organisations of the LIVING Partnership member organisations.
As LIVING 2012 is an international conference of people living with HIV, only people that are openly living with HIV are eligible to participate in the conference.
To ensure LIVING 2012 participation reflects the diversity of the global epidemic, the LIVING 2012 partnership will set up a selection process for people to participate in the conference. The selection process will be handled confidentially by the LIVING 2012 partnership.
Please note, LIVING 2012 scholarship are ONLY available to persons who are selected for AIDS2012 scholarships through the above web link.
