Global / Female Condoms: Want to help make history by demanding female condoms?
Dear Advocates and Allies - women and men, Universal Access to Female Condoms (UAFC) Joint Programme, in collaboration with CHANGE and other excellent partners, is preparing to set a new record in the Guinness Book of World Records at the International AIDS Conference in July. We are creating a Paper Doll chain made up of individual messages in support of female condoms to disprove, once and for all, the myth that people don’t want female condoms. To succeed, we must get 28,000 paper dolls completed.

UNAIDS and UN Women unite against AIDS
GENEVA, 5 June 2012—The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) is the eleventh United Nations body to join the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) as a cosponsoring partner. The official joining of UN Women as a UNAIDS Cosponsor, which was approved at UNAIDS’ board meeting today, will further strengthen the UNAIDS family’s work on gender equality and HIV and enhance collaboration with governments, international partners, women’s organizations and the women’s rights movement. “UN Women is proud to join UNAIDS.

Global / Women's political and economic empowerment: UN Women call for proposals
At a high-level event at the Commission on the Status of Women in New York, Michelle Bachelet, Under-Secretary-General and UN Women Executive Director, issued a new call for proposals for UN Women’s Fund for Gender Equality from organizations working to advance economic and political empowerment in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Europe and Central Asia. “UN Women’s Fund for Gender Equality provides direct grants for women’s empowerment and political participation,” said Ms. Bachelet.
