The big issues on the G8 agenda - food security, poverty, climate change and global health - are all connected to gender equality, they say. Many think investment in women is itself a solution. "If we invest in women, many problems will be solved," Sylvia Borren, co- chair of the Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP) told IPS. Global / HIV: ICW Global adopts June 27th as International Day of Peace Towards AIDS

JUNE 27: International Day of Peace Towards AIDS.  Why June 27th? We need one day to resemble the world, the necessity to work together to stop AIDS. Peace is a powerful tool to face human rights violations, domestic violence, stigma and discrimination in the society, at work, and in every bond weakened by violence. Global / GCWA: In Memory of Robert Carr

The Global Coalition on Women and AIDS (GCWA) is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Dr. Robert Carr, who had recently assumed the position of co-chair of the GCWA. Robert’s kindness, wit and insight were an asset to anything he focused his energy on. Tireless and determined, as someone unafraid to mention the unmentionable or to ask the most challenging question, he was an invaluable advocate, visionary and human rights defender.
