Global: Launch of the PACT Parental Consent Survey

 The PACT, a collaboration across 25 youth-led and youth-serving organisations, with support from UNAIDS, has launched a parental consent survey for young people (under 30) to gather their opinions on how parental consent laws impact their access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and harm reduction services and, importantly, collect information on their first-hand experiences. The Global Coalition on Women and AIDS commends the International Community of Women Living with HIV for its leadership and joins its call to Namibian authorities to uphold the sexual and reproductive rights of women in all their diversity, and to put an end to forced or coerced sterilization of women living with HIV Since 2008, lawsuits against the government of Namibia have been filed for sterilizing women living with HIV, without their consent.

European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights: EU-wide survey on violence against women

What emerges is a picture of extensive abuse that affects many women’s lives but is systematically underreported to the authorities. The scale of violence against women is therefore not reflected by official data. This FRA survey is the first of its kind on violence against women across the 28 Member States of the European Union. It is based on interviews with 42,000 women across the EU, who were asked about their experiences of physical, sexual and psychological violence, including incidents of intimate partner violence (‘domestic violence’).
