The Global Coalition on Women and AIDS (GCWA) welcomes the recently released UN Women report 2011-2012 Progress of the World’s Women: In Pursuit of Justice. The report highlights that, despite some successes, every region of the world still has laws that discriminate against women. Women’s and girls’ access to justice is intrinsically linked to their ability to cope with the HIV pandemic as women and girls living with HIV are particularly affected by discriminatory laws and practices.

On International Women’s Day 2012 the Global Coalition on Women and AIDS (GCWA), calls on its members, as well as all United Nations agencies, governments and donors to intensify efforts to engage and empower girls and young women living with and affected by HIV. Asia-Pacific / Gender equality and HIV: Unzip the Lips launched at ICAAP!
Unzip the Lips is intended to offer a safe and inclusive space for dialogue. It is a platform being galvanised by The Coalition of Asia Pacific Regional Networks on HIV/AIDS (7Sisters) together with supporting partners and activists across the region to articulate the needs of key affected women and girls.
